There’s not a lot that can be done about this one. People understand when you explain things, or they don’t. The best you can do is to simplify it and hope that’s enough or pray that who you talk to is just willing to let you work even if they don’t fully grasp what you need to do.
Another instance of difficulty talking between client and handyman is unfamiliarity with each other.
Sometimes, when two people know each other well enough, they develop a rapport. They might even come to understand each other with more than just verbal cues. This can become a hindrance when you start using these signals with someone you’re not familiar with or referencing previous events.
This isn’t a bad thing if you keep calling and getting the same handyman for every job. It can be a minor hiccup if you get someone you don’t know.
In this case, the best way to smooth out the problem is for explanations. Both sides have to be willing to ask questions, in this instance, to figure out what is being conveyed. Context-based communication is not a particularly common thing in Western cultures, so clarification is essential.
